From the storied Studio B at 89.9 WRVG, the short-lived but dearly remembered Georgetown College public radio station. ‘RVG was located in a renovated ranch house on Lemons Mill Road, in Scott County, Kentucky. The station burst onto the central Kentucky music scene after the college received FCC permission to boost the signal of its campus station from a mere 140 watts to a powerful 50,000 watts.. This remarkable transformation was brought about by the late Georgetown professor Bill Gillespie, an avid lover of live music. Printers Tom Martin (Program Director and morning drive host) and Jon Bowne (JB’s Home Cookin' host) seen below (the two losing their hair) were joined by an incredible staff of fellow lovers of live music - many of them musicians in their own right - to provide central Kentucky with performances from Studio B by touring artists either in the area for concerts, or just passing by on I-75 or I-64. In time, those included Bruce Hornsby, David Crosby, Galactic, The Susan Tedeschi-Derek Trucks Band, Vasser Clements, John Hammond and many, many more. Courtesy of 'RVG staffer Mike Francis, here are some of those performances.
